Public Health Genomics

“The responsible and effective translation of genome-based knowledge and technologies for the benefit of population health”
From World Health Organization (WHO) https://www.who.int/rpc/igph-definitions/en/

Advancements in genomic technologies, coupled with novel efficient management and processing of big data have now led to our increased understanding of disease risks, pathogenesis, personalization for prevention and effective treatment based on improved timely accurate diagnosis, as well as interventions to limit infectious diseases spread through pathogen sequencing to identify risk factors and individuals involved.

The Public Health Genomics Programme at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health is thus a network platform where researchers in SSHSPH share and provide updates on projects related to the areas of Public Health Genomics, which could be based either on human genomics; pathogen genomics or the complex interactions between humans, pathogens and the environment.
